There is a major traffic backup on I-40 westbound in Roane County spanning from Kingston all the way west to halfway up the mountain. On the map below, the “star” is construction that is being done at the 347 Exit. The “circle” is where an accident is being cleaned up now that plagued the road for hours. The combination of the two has resulted in the backup. Please be patient and try to seek alternate routes. Estimated time of clearing is 6 p.m. eastern.
