MAN ARRESTED AFTER ARMED HIGH SPEED MOTORCYCLE PURSUIT IN ROCKWOOD

A high-speed motorcycle pursuit through Rockwood on Saturday night, June 14, reached speeds exceeding 100 mph before ending in the suspect’s arrest in neighboring Harriman. The incident began after Central Dispatch received reports of multiple motorcycles speeding into the city. A Rockwood police officer spotted the group heading south on South Gateway Avenue and activated emergency lights and sirens near Wheeler Street, prompting the riders to scatter in different directions. One rider, identified as 33-year-old Sean Denver Peace, fled southbound on Gateway Avenue at extreme speeds. Despite briefly appearing to stop near Eaton Road, Peace turned around and headed back northbound, prompting a continued chase through Rockwood during which he repeatedly drove around other vehicles and evaded multiple “boxing-in” maneuvers by law enforcement.

The pursuit crossed into the City of Harriman, where Peace turned onto Fairchild Street and ran his motorcycle off the roadway before regaining control and entering the parking lot of A1 Tactical. As officers again attempted to box him in, Peace struck a vehicle driven by Rockwood Detective Cunningham. He then fled southbound in the northbound lane of travel and struck another patrol vehicle. Following this second collision, an officer exited the patrol car with a drew firearm and ordered Peace to surrender; he was taken into custody without further resistance.

Upon searching Peace, officers discovered a loaded Glock 27 handgun on his person. Following his arrest, Peace spontaneously admitted to police that he was intoxicated after leaving a bar and stated that once he decided to flee, “he did not see any point in stopping.”

The Tennessee Highway Patrol was called to investigate the scene of the crashes, which left two Rockwood police units damaged. Peace was transported to the Roane County Jail and booked on multiple charges, including three counts of assault on an officer or first responder alongside numerous traffic violations. Records indicate he was recently released from jail after posting a $52,000 bond.
