MAN ARRESTED LAST DECEMBER FOR CHILD MOLESTATION ACCEPTS DEAL, PLEADS GUILTY
A Cookeville man has accepted a deal and pleaded guilty to a count of attempted rape of a child stemming from an incident that occurred last December. 35-year-old Mathew Louis Ellis was arrested last December for reportedly molesting a 4-year-old at a former gaming pub located on East 10th St. The child’s family, whom Ellis was friends with, were at the business with the child the night the incident happened. The establishment has since closed down. Criminal Court Judge David Patterson accepted the plea which means that Ellis will serve 22 years in prison at 100 percent. He will be registered as a sex offender and will remain on community supervision for life.
