MAN CHARGED IN BLOODY KNIFE ATTACK AGAINST WIFE

A Smithville man accused of stabbing his wife in DeKalb County is being held in the White County Jail. Sparta Live reports that 29-year-old Andrew Lafate Billings was arrested in White County and is being held on another charge there. DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray says that the bloody body of Billing’s wife, 19-year-old Adriana Nicole Billings, was discovered lying along Allen Ferry Rd. in Smithville on the morning of April 4th. Deputies found Billings bleeding from multiple stab wounds to her neck, face and hands. She was treated at the scene by EMS and then airlifted to an area trauma center. Her condition is unknown but her wounds are reportedly life threatening. During the preliminary investigation, deputies turned up Andrew Billings as a person-of-interest. A BOLO was sent out for Billing’s vehicle which was later stopped that morning on Bockman Way. Authorities observed blood in the vehicle and also found a bloody knife with hair attached. The TBI and District Attorney General’s Office is assisting in the investigation. Billings, who is charged with attempted first degree murder, is being held in White County on an existing failure-to-appear charge. DeKalb County has placed a hold on him and set bond at $1 million. He’s expected to appear in court on April 20.
