MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC ASSAULT IN ROANE COUNTY

A Loudon, Tennessee man is facing a charge after a domestic incident in Roane County. Deputies were called yesterday (Wednesday, June 21, 2017) to a residence on Estes Road for a disturbance. According to the arrest report from the Roane County Sheriff’s Department, a female victim told officers that 42-year-old Jamie Byrd held her down in a chair then pressed his forearm against her throat. Byrd then allegedly attempted to choke the victim. She was able to get free then Byrd allegedly pulled a knife and threatened to kill her. Byrd then allegedly restrained the woman again but this time the victim bit his thumb where she could get free. Officers noted injuries to the woman from the incident. While transporting Byrd to jail, a deputy noticed that Byrd was not moving and slumped over in the back seat of the cruiser. The officer immediately stopped and with the help of another officer pulled Byrd out of the patrol car laying him down on the ground. Officers say Byrd was unresponsive but breathing. Deputies say Byrd’s body was tensed up as if he was having a seizure however, after a sternum rub, Byrd was able to talk to them. Byrd allegedly stated that he had taken 60 methadone pills along with other stuff that was not identified. Byrd was transported to Roane Medical Center. Officers charged him with aggravated domestic assault.
