A Cookeville man faces an assault charge after brandishing a BB-gun at a couple in Crossville. Authorities received a report from a male that 40-year-old Shawn Thomas Stuart pointed a handgun at him and his girlfriend in the Cumberland Square parking lot. The victims stated that Stuart pulled in to the parking lot a short distance away from them, yelled threats and pointed the gun at them. Stuart denied pointing the gun, which was found to be a BB-gun. It was recovered from the front seat of Stuart’s vehicle. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
