MAN IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCAMMED OUT OF $8,000 ON SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETPLACE

Law enforcement in Cumberland County encourages citizens to be careful when making purchases on social media marketplaces.

A resident was shopping online for a tractor on marketplace and was interested in a John Deere 4720. A construction company in Columbia, Missouri, had it for sale for $8,000.

He spoke with two subjects regarding the tractor and later wired the money to them.

The victim was not able to make contact with either suspect after the money was sent.

The victim filed a report with the TBI, and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, regarding the scam.
