MAN INDICTED FOR ALLEGEDLY RUNNING OVER OFFICER

A Roane County grand jury has indicted a man for an incident that took place back in August where he allegedly ran over a law enforcement officer. On August 6, officers were called to intercept a possible drunk driver in a Dodge Dakota pulling a trailer traveling on West Race Street heading towards River Road. Authorities stopped the driver, 32-year-old Henry Nicholas Brown of Ten Mile, on Highway 58. Seconds later, help was called when Brown allegedly sped off and ran over Sgt. Jerry Singleton of the Kingston Police Department in the process. Brown’s truck was later located off of Broken Arrow Point. Officers then received information that Brown may be at a residence on Evans Road. A search of the home revealed Brown hiding in a closet in a back bedroom. Brown was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, assault involving a law enforcement officer, evading arrest, evading arrest in a motor vehicle creating risk to bystanders, driving on a revoked suspended license, and served three warrants for violation of probation. Brown will be arraigned on the indictments soon in Roane County Criminal Court.
