MAN INDICTED ON SEX CRIME CHARGES AGAINST A CHILD

A Cumberland County grand jury handed down charges yesterday (Monday, October 16, 2017) against a man from sex crimes against a child in a superseding indictment. A “superseding indictment” is an indictment that takes the place of, takes precedence over, or replaces a previously obtained indictment. Court officials say 35-year-old Steven Andrew Marchuk is facing charges of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual battery and unlawful photographing in violation of privacy. According to the new indictments, Marchuk allegedly was in possession of less than 50 images that depicted minors engaged in sexual activity. Marchuk also allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old victim back in 2013 and took pictures of the victim without consent. Arraignments for the new indictments is scheduled for next month.
