Blount County deputies needed a taser and a K-9 officer to take a man into custody Saturday after what they called a “drug-fueled” chase.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Edward Davis began eluding authorities late Saturday afternoon, when a deputy tried to stop his truck on Highway 411 South. Deputies say he was driving erratically, repeatedly crossing the center line and driving onto the shoulder.

Davis eventually drove into a ditch, and hit a vehicle sitting along the roadway. He then evaded deputies’ spike strips, but finally pulled into the driveway of a Trigonia Road home, where he refused to get out of the car. That’s when they used the taser and brought out the K-9 officer.

Authorities say Davis admitted taking meth, Suboxone and Adderall earlier in the day. Deputies found multiple syringes and other drug paraphernalia in his vehicle.

Charged with DUI, felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license, Davis is being held on $8,500 bond.
