Cumberland County authorities seek a male subject who led them on a chase yesterday in the Westel community. A officer saw the man on a yellow ATV passing a vehicle at a high rate of speed in a no passing zone near Highway 70 East and Westel Road. The subject then turned onto George Anna Drive and sped up as the deputy tried to pull him over. The man then got off the ATV and fled on foot across a field with the deputy chasing him. The officer told the subject to stop or he would deploy his taser. The suspect went down after the officer shot the taser but he got back up and fled into a wooded area. The officer was not able to positively identify the male that led him on the chase. A wrecker service was called to get the ATV as officers placed a hold on it.
