Crossville Police were called to Cumberland Medical Center for the report of a male subject with a handgun. Witnesses at the scene told officers that the man, identified as 69-year-old Russell Almeida, approached them in a confrontational state and showed them a pistol. Officers found the suspect slumped over inside of a parked black Ford SUV with the handgun lying on the passenger seat. The gun was confiscated and Almeida was handcuffed and taken into custody. He was charged with public intoxication and possessing a firearm while under the influence.
