Saturday evening, Cumberland County deputies initiated a traffic stop on Taylor’s Chapel Road, only to have the suspect engage them in pursuit. The driver turned in at a driveway on the 1300 block, then drove off road and into a field, then on a dirt road and another field. The suspect 44-year-old Ronald Dexter Hubbard, attempted to cross a creek, disabling his vehicle. Hubbard fled on foot, still pursued by deputies. When he was apprehended, Hubbard said his license was revoked, and he believed his front-seat passenger, 35-year-old Stephanie Cheliah Tuttle, had illegal narcotics in the vehicle.

Tuttle, who had an outstanding warrant, was also placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle turned up 12.74 grams of meth, digital scales and clear plastic baggies often used to package and resell illegal narcotics, a used syringe, a spoon with an off-white crystal residue that field tested positive for meth. Tuttle claimed ownership of the paraphernalia, but denied the meth was hers.

Hubbard claimed none of the items was his.

Both were taken to Cumberland County jail. Tuttle was charged with felony manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, and failure to appear. She was placed under $100,500 bond and is due in court date this Thursday.
