MIKE ‘BRILLO’ MILLER ENDS 25 YEARS ON ROANE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION TOMORROW
The Roane County Board of Education is scheduled to meet Thursday, August, 15 at 7 p.m. at the Rockwood High School Cafeteria.
The reason for the change of venue is to honor long-time Board of Education member Mike ‘Brillo’ Miller, who didn’t seek re-election this year and this will be his official last meeting after serving some 25 years on the Board. So, with that said, Board members felt it would be the right thing to do to have the meeting in Rockwood, in his hometown, at his alma mater, Rockwood High. The policy committee will meet at 5:30 before the Board of Education meeting as there is a slate of policies for review and the board’s possible passage.
Items on the agenda include consideration of employee Christmas bonuses, approval of the 5-year plan as presented at the board’s planning session in Gatlinburg, consideration of action on a school building project, and as well consideration to transfer funds for land acquisition and development.
The election of the chairman and vice chairman of the board for the next fiscal year and board member recognitions will be conducted by Director of Schools Russell K. Jenkins. These are things for the Roane County Board of Education to consider when they meet at The Rockwood High School cafeteria this Thursday, August, 15 at 7 p.m.
