MONTEREY MAY BE CLOSER TO GETTING FIRST LIQUOR STORE

The town of Monterey may be getting its first liquor store soon. According to Mayor Bill Wiggins, the town’s Beer & Liquor Committee will be holding a meeting Monday night (11-6) to decide whether or not to issue a certificate of compliance for the proposed store which would be located at the old Rocky Pop’s Barbecue off exit 301. Wiggins says that the owner has “come into total compliance with local codes and ordinances.” That certificate will then be forwarded to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission. After that, residents can make comments to the ABC. The committee will meet at 6:30 PM just before the city official’s regular scheduled meeting.
