MORE BRUSH FIRES BEING BATTLED IN ANDERSON COUNTY
Firefighters from several districts contained a brush fire that broke out on a ridge just south of the Clinton city limits on Wednesday night. The fire, off of Yarnell Road in Claxton, was reported at around 6 PM and crews had it contained within four hours. The blaze charred between five to ten acres and while the cause has not been determined, it was described by Clinton Fire Chief Archie Brummitt as “suspicious.” Officials say there are still over 65 active fires burning 16,000 acres in the state many of which are being blamed on arsonists. Two people were arrested earlier this week for such crimes in Monroe and Sequatchie Counties.
