MORE INFO ON SATURDAY SEMI-TRUCK WRECK

On Thursday last week, a 2018 Freightliner semi tractor pulling a semi-trailer driven by Brian Nipper was traveling west on Interstate 40 near mile marker 335. The vehicle ran off the roadway on the right side, over corrected, and re-entered the roadway, crossing both westbound Lanes, then left the roadway on the left side, crossed the median, struck the cable barrier, entered the roadway, crossed the eastbound lanes, and struck the Earth embankment on the eastbound shoulder.

After the first impact, the trailer was in the roadway, completely blocking the eastbound right lane and partially blocking the eastbound left lane.

Shortly after, a 2023 Peterbilt semi-tractor driven by Ahmed Kechichi and pulling a semi-trailer was traveling East in the right lane when Nipper’s Freightliner crossed the eastbound Lanes. Kechichi’s Peterbilt locked its brakes and steered left to avoid a collision but was unsuccessful.

Kechichi struck Nipper’s trailer on the right rear.

Both vehicles came to a final rest at the area of the final impact. Both vehicles were towed due to vehicle damage.

Kechichi would not sustain injuries during the incident, but Mr. Nipper would. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.

Neither man was charged.
