MORGAN COUNTY RESIDENTS COULD SEE 17-CENT TAX INCREASE
Morgan County residents may see a 17-cent tax increase soon. The county commission is expected to address the issue next month at their meeting. The increase stems from a lawsuit judgment by Circuit Court Judge Mike Pemberton granting the sheriff’s office four new road deputies and $113,000 in raises for the sheriff’s department. The lawsuit was filed by Sheriff Glen Freytag against the county, who plans to appeal Pemberton’s decision.
