MOSS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN WHITE COUNTY

White County deputies were advised yesterday to look out for a 2002 Nissan Altima that had been stolen from around the White/Cumberland County line. The vehicle was spotted traveling on Country Club Road, occupied by two individuals. After a deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the Altima increased his speed to evade law enforcement. The pursuit proceeded down Country Club Road onto Bockman Way. The driver traveled westbound, running several red lights. Officers followed the suspected driver as he made his way onto Jerry Parker Road and continued onto Sullivan Knowles Road. The vehicle pursuit ended on Mt. Gilead Church Road after the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.
After a short foot pursuit, K-9 Reno was deployed by his handler and the suspect, 28-year-old Russell Moss, was taken into custody after a successful K-9 track and an altercation with officers. Moss was charged with aggravated burglary, felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle, resisting official detention, aggravated assault and driving while license revoked or suspended. The passenger was detained and later released without charges.
After the pursuit, two officers were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries
