MOTORCYCLE HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT IN CROSSVILLE ENDS WITH ARREST

Just before 2 yesterday morning, a Crossville police officer observed a rider and passenger on a blue Yamaha motorcycle traveling on Elmore Road with no visible license plate.

The motorcycle, operated by 50-year-old Richard Eric Shuey Jr. of Crossville turned onto Livingston Road and accelerated at a high rate of speed.

The police officer engaged Shuey attempting to pull him over.

The arrest report states Shuey ran the red light at Livingston Road and Miller Bypass as well as Miller Bypass and West Avenue. Shuey turned onto Sparta Drive swerving into both lanes of travel. Officers say Shuey ran a stop sign, then turned onto a trail beside Hughs Farm on Sparta Drive.

Police set up a perimeter and searched a wooded area on foot. They found the motorcycle on its side and a helmet. Shuey was found on the ground hiding behind a fallen tree.

He was taken into custody for evading arrest, driving on a suspended or revoked license, running a red light, running a stop sign, improper display of a registration, and no insurance.

Shuey told police he let a female passenger off when he left Sparta Drive. He stated he did not know who the female was.

The female had not been found or identified at the time the arrest report was released by the Crossville Police Department.
