MOTORCYCLIST ARRESTED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
While on patrol last night on Genesis Road in front of the Pilot Travel Plaza, a Cumberland County deputy observed a motorcycle traveling towards him at 60 miles an hour in a 40 zone.
The officer turned around to attempt to stop the rider, 46-year-old Christopher Dewayne Montgomery of Crossville.
The arrest report states Montgomery increased his speed going toward the intersection of Fred Ford Road and Genesis Road. The officer reportedly saw Montgomery cross the center double yellow line into the oncoming lanes, passing two vehicles at just over 80 miles an hour.
The chase went to Poplar Drive, where Montgomery stopped.
The officer gave Montgomery multiple commands to get off the motorcycle, which he allegedly refused. The deputy had to pull Montgomery off the motorcycle.
The report states Montgomery refused to put his hands behind his back and attempted to shove the deputy away from him.
Backup deputies arrived and Montgomery was taken into custody without further incident.
He was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and speeding.
