MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH REPORTED IN AREA OF CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON I-40 NEAR CRAB ORCHARD
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and medics went to the scene of a multi-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at the 333 westbound mile marker of I-40 in Cumberland County. A 2019 Toyota Rav4 driven by 71-year-old David S. Scott of Livingston, Tennessee and a 2019 GMC Sierra operated by 42-year-old Jamie L. Slote of Grandview, Virginia were both stopped behind other automobiles because of an approaching road work project at the 328 mile marker. An approaching 2018 International tractor-trailer controlled by 50-year-old Robert Smith of Chattanooga could not stop in time and struck the GMC first then the Toyota was involved. A passenger with Scott, 66-year-old Lesia Sue Franklin of Livingston, was the only injury noted. Smith was issued citations as a result of the crash.
