MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS REPORTED IN ROANE COUNTY ON SATURDAY
This past Saturday, a couple of accidents occurred in the county. The first happened around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 40 at the Kingston westbound on-ramp, involving four vehicles and two persons. Traffic was reduced to one lane at the scene for about an hour. The Kingston Fire Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the incident. The THP is investigating and will release details as they become available. No serious injuries were reported.
Saturday afternoon around 2:00 p.m., a three-car rear-end collision occurred at the intersection of Highways 27 and 70 on North Gateway Avenue, blocking one northbound lane for a time. Two ambulances were dispatched to transport possible injuries, but the individuals declined transport, and no serious injuries were involved. Details will be forthcoming once the Rockwood Police Department report is available. According to the police report, two vehicles were stopped at the traffic light heading northbound: the first driven by Robert L. Love of Kingston, and the second by Stephanie Foley of Harlan, Kentucky. A third vehicle, driven by Emily Treigler of Harriman, swerved into the right lane behind them after another vehicle attempted to pass in the left lane, causing Treigler’s vehicle to strike the two stopped cars. The report noted complaints of minor injuries, but no one required ambulance transport to the hospital. Charges, if any, are unknown.
Rockwood police also responded to another accident that occurred just before 4:00 p.m. Saturday on Rathburn Street and South Gateway. Officer Chris B. Lom was parked behind a disabled vehicle at the intersection with his blue lights activated when two approaching vehicles rear-ended each other but did not strike his cruiser. His report stated that a Toyota Camry driven by Jessica Brown, 39, of Crossville, rear-ended a Toyota minivan driven by Cole Gleason, 21, of Arizona. No injuries were reported in this fender bender.
