A multi-day stretch of severe weather brought widespread disruption across East Tennessee over the weekend, leaving behind scattered damage, localized flooding, and power outages.

Rounds of heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and strong thunderstorms battered the region throughout last week and into Saturday and Sunday. Downed trees briefly blocked several roadways across the area, while utility crews worked to restore power to isolated pockets of residents affected by the high winds.

In Roane County, torrential downpours on Sunday triggered localized flooding. Water rapidly accumulated in low-lying areas and poor drainage zones, temporarily covering several roads during the heaviest bursts of rain.

Despite the persistent storms, officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported in connection with the severe weather.

However, emergency managers warn that the region isn’t completely out of the woods yet. Forecasts indicate another round of potentially strong storms could move through East Tennessee late Tuesday night.

Residents are urged to remain weather-aware, maintain multiple reliable ways to receive emergency alerts, and remember to never attempt to drive through flooded roads.
