MUMMEY ARRESTED FOR DUI ON HALLOWEEN

Yesterday, at around 2:10 a.m., Deputy Christopher Page was monitoring traffic while parked in the intersection of Arthur Seagraves Road and Highway 70 West facing eastbound he noticed a Ram 2500 pickup that had no visible tag lights.

While pursuing the vehicle, Deputy Page and the vehicle traveled Eastward toward Crossville at speeds varying between 40 and 55 mph.

At one point while approaching Northside Drive, the pickup truck initiated its left turn signal but ended up blowing straight through the traffic light. The vehicle would also fail to maintain its Lane by crossing over the center line multiple times and failing to initiate turn signals. Deputy Page initiated a traffic stop, stopping the driver in the middle of the intersection of Miller Avenue and 10th Street, where it then slowly rolled into the TCAT parking lot.

Registration of the vehicle turned up the owner and driver to be Christopher James Mummey.

Deputy Page observed the driver’s eyes to be glossy with an alcoholic smell coming off his person. After being told why he was pulled over, Mummey was observed to be unsteady on his feet as he walked to the rear of his vehicle. However, Mummey denied having any more than one beer.

Deputy Page conducted field sobriety tests, all of which Mummey failed.

After parking Mummey’s truck at the TCAT parking lot, Mummey was transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking where he was charged with driving under the influence.
