On Friday, April 29, 2022, Billy Joe Wannyn, of Spencer,  was found guilty to all counts in the indictment.

Billy Joe Wannyn was charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, and aggravated armed robbery in the death of Albin Von Buechel (age 71) He was discovered at his home in Pleasant Hill in early 2018 after reportedly sustaining about 18 stab wounds and a slashed throat. Wannyn’s DNA  was positively identified inside the residence, on the door, porch, and droplets with his DNA on the driveway and in the front yard of Mr. Buechel’s home.

The judge set a tentative sentencing date of July 15. Wannyn will remain in custody.
