A woman and her boyfriend have been charged in a “severe” case of child abuse, Metro Police say.

Police said 20-year-old Prisicila Mota and 19-year-old Santos Long is charged with the alleged abuse of Mota’s infant daughter and two-year-old son.

The nine-month-old baby was reportedly taken to the hospital on Dec. 13 with skull fractures and hemorrhages after she was found unresponsive and suffering from a bruised, swollen eye. She also sustained collarbone fractures, a subdural hematoma, and subdural hemorrhages. Police said doctors reported the injuries to be consistent with severe child abuse.

“Mota said her daughter fell from a bed between 5 p.m. & 6 p.m. on December 12th, and that she left the child in her room until 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning,” police said. “She said the infant was unresponsive. Mota called 911 at 11:07 a.m. on the 13th.”

Police also say the toddler had scratches to his face, a welt on his back, and severe diaper rash which caused his skin to peel. He had been removed from Mota’s custody in 2021 and shouldn’t have been in the home with her, Metro Police said.

Both are facing attempted criminal homicide and two counts of aggravated child abuse. Mota is being held on a $175,000 bond. Lang is being held without bond.
