The National Weather Service has issued a FREEZE WATCH for parts of the coverage area including the counties of:

CUMBERLAND, CLAY, PICKETT, PUTNAM, OVERTON, FENTRESS. WHITE, AND VAN BUREN

The watch is for late tomorrow night (Friday, May 8, 2020) until mid-Saturday morning (May 9, 2020). THIS WATCH IS EXPECTED TO BE UPGRADED TO A FREEZE WARNING for the same counties. Another frost or freeze watch is likely for Saturday night into Sunday morning (May 9-10, 2020).

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
