NEW BILL PROPOSES TO REPEAL “LEGITIMATE” BABIES BORN FROM ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION

Gay rights activists are not the only ones across the state who are fired-up over a new bill that proposes to repeal a 1977 state law that declares children borne as a result of artificial insemination to be called “legitimate” offspring of a couple. Republican State Rep. Terri Lynn Weaver has entered the bill. Weaver has said that the proposition is not aimed at the LGBT Community, and says that it would not de-legitimize children because another state law addresses parentage without asking about the method of conception. Others are disturbed that the word “legitimate” is used in the bill.
