NEW BRIDGE ALREADY HAVING ISSUES WITH TRAFFIC AND SPEEDING

The new bridge on Margrave Street in Harriman is open and already residents who live along the street and close to the bridge are seeing an increase in traffic and speeding. The street was without the bridge for nearly four years so there wasn’t much traffic past Queen Street. City manager Kevin Helms told council members when they met that he is still awaiting a state grant that will fund some street upgrades along Margrave Street close to the bridge that will eventually aid in slowing drivers down. In the meantime, police are setting up there when the can to make sure motorists don’t go faster than the 25 mph speed limit.
