NEW CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL HOLDS FIRST WORK SESSION

The new Crossville City Council dug their heels in and started things off with a work session this week. The council is looking at possibly applying for a Site Development Grant to assist in preparing a 200,000 foot pad in the Interchange Business Park located just off the I-40, 317 Exit. The plan would include 20 acres of land. However, the deadline to apply for the grant is this coming Friday, Dec. 9. Members discussed the possibility of returning their monthly meetings to the second Tuesday of the month and reinstalling monthly work sessions to the first Tuesday of the month. The council also talked about reopening the application process for the permanent city manager job. Human Resource Director Leah Crockett told the council that she had heard from several of the applicants questioning the lengthy process. It was decided previously to wait until the new council members came onboard to begin the interview process. And since many of the applicants live out of town or out of state, the council decided to wait until after the holidays to begin interviews. All of these items will be addressed at Thursday’s regular monthly meeting.
