NEW FED-EX DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN COOKEVILLE BREAKS GROUND

City of Cookeville, Mayor, Ricky Shelton says he was honored to speak and welcome FedEx at the official groundbreaking yesterday morning on their new facility on Tennessee Avenue.

This 48.56-acre site will be the home of a 251,000-square-foot state-of-the-art distribution center and 250 jobs. Their new location, opening in November, will turn over 7,350 packages PER HOUR working seven days a week to deliver packages across the region! Westmoreland Company is developing the project and T.W Frierson is constructing the facility.

The city manager says the road will be closed several more weeks before it is opened. FedEx has to cut the road to get sewer to their site. FedEx and Garrett Brothers are each responsible for doing the road section in front of them through the base stone. Then TDOT will do the asphalt work
