NEW LAWSUITS FILED REGARDING ROANE COUNTY ASH SPILL

Attorneys for an additional 100 workers who died or have terminal illnesses reportedly from the ash spill cleanup in Roane County have filed a new lawsuit in Roane County Circuit Court. The workers were reportedly hired to clean up the 5.4 million cubic yards of coal ash that smothered 300 acres of land in December 2008. Officials now say 180 new cases of workers who died or are dying from exposure to the toxic elements have emerged. This is on top of the 30 who have died and at least 200 who are sick. A federal lawsuit regarding the cleanup is expected to be heard later this year.
