NEW PROGRAM UNVEILED TO AID VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett announced the launch of a new program designed to help protect victims of domestic violence in Tennessee. Hargett was joined by Sen. Brian Kelsey of Collierville and Representative Andrew Farmer of Sevierville at the State Capitol building this morning in announcing details of the Safe at Home Address Confidentiality Program. Kelsey and Farmer sponsored legislation last year to facilitate this program.

Safe at Home provides a substitute address to victims of specific domestic-violence offenses to keep their personal address confidential and off certain government records. More details on how the program works, who can participate and how domestic-violence victims can incorporate Safe at Home into their overall safety plan were discussed.

The Safe at Home program officially begins tomorrow, March first.
