NEWS FROM THE CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING – NOVEMBER 10, 2020

The Crossville City Council met for their regularly scheduled session Tuesday, November 10, 2020. Here are highlights from the meeting:

COUNCILMAN J.H. GRAHAM RECOGNIZED FOR HIS SERVICE TO CROSSVILLE

Mayor James Mayberry recognized Councilman J.H. Graham III with a gift basket as a small token of his appreciate for Graham’s 22 years of service to the City of Crossville. This was Graham’s last meeting as a member of the city council as he was not re-elected to another term.

“I appreciate it greatly. This has been the experience of my life. We have accomplished a lot of great things here. Crossville is a great place to live, work, play and worship,” said Graham.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH

The city council recognized Brylee Wyatt from Martin Elementary School as the latest Student of the Month. Brylee is in Melissa Buffkin’s second grade class. Her teacher says Brylee is an awesome second-grader. She is always very polite and well mannered. She helps everyone and is a great all-around student.

ORDINANCES PASSED

Closing Church Street between Cother and Burnett Street – (3rd and final reading).

Amending the fiscal year 2020-2021 budget for costs of Meadow Park Lake master meter equipment and installation – (3rd and final reading).

CONTRACTS APPROVED

With TDOT on utility relocations for the bridge area over the Obed River

BIDS AND PURCHASES APPROVED

A Reelmaster 3100D Sidewinder reel mower at $36,289

Water resources tank valves and actuators

Schwarze A4 Storm Street Sweeper

SALES TAX COLLECTIONS

City Manager Greg Wood reported the city took in $738,979 in sales tax for last month. Year to date, nearly 3.1 million dollars ($3,099,357) received to the city in sales taxes.

WHOLESALE BEER TAX

The city took in $64,066 in wholesale beer tax for last month. Year to date, $265,681 in wholesale beer tax revenues received to the city.

LIQUOR TAX

The city took in $56,314 in liquor tax for last month. Year to date, $213,666 in liquor tax revenues received to the city.

HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX

The city took in $12,228 in hotel occupancy tax for September 2020.
