The Cumberland County Election Commission says the deadline to qualify to run for property assessor was at noon today. Nine are now in contention for the position being vacated by David Simcox who will not seek another term in office. No democrat candidates picked up papers to run. The nine republicans include Greg Barnwell, Chad Garrett, Tom Howard, Linda Watson Miller, Lori Lowe Powell, Heath Scarbrough, Don Strong, Lewis Taylor, and Cam Wyatt. Early voting will get underway February 12, 2020 for the March 3, 2020 Republican Primary.
