NINTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT FORMS OVERDOSE DRUG TASK FORCE
The ninth judicial district, which is made up of Roane, Morgan, Loudon and Meigs counties, now have a special overdose drug task force. The mission of the task force is to find drug suppliers of people who die from overdoses and charge them with second-degree murder. District Attorney Russell Johnson said in Roane County alone, there were 32 overdose deaths in 2016 and 21 so far in 2017. Johnson said they are always working to get users in treatment by way of drug court. Officers are now carrying Naloxone to counter the effects of a drug overdose.
