NORTHVIEW ACADEMY STUDENT ARRESTED AFTER ISSUING THREAT

A 14-year-old student at Northview Academy was charged with harassment after his arrest Wednesday night for “threatening to shoot up the school,” a Sevier County sheriff’s spokesman said.

Investigators from the sheriff’s office, the Sevierville Police Department and Sevier County Schools teamed up in the effort to bring the student into custody.

As a precautionary step, extra deputies, police officers and school system employees were on hand at the school today, “to enhance security measures already in place,” according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s department.
