OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING NEAR ROCKWOOD EARLIER THIS YEAR RULED JUSTIFIED
A Roane County grand jury is in agreement with the district attorney’s office that a fatal shooting involving a suspect and a police officer back in July was justified. The incident started with a domestic altercation between the driver, 59-year-old Glynn F. Young of McMinnville, and woman in a van on Highway 27. Young stopped along the road near Kirk Lane, where the female escaped as the two officers approached the vehicle. Young brandished a handgun and was shot by a Rockwood police officer. Young passed away from his injuries. Neither of the officers, nor the woman was hurt. The case was investigated by the TBI.
