OLIVER SPRINGS COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

The Oliver Springs Town Council met in regular session last night at City Hall. Three council members—Vice Mayor Terry Holland, Becky Devaney, and Jeff Bass—were absent, but a quorum was present with three council members and Mayor Jason Stiltner, as per the city charter.
With no new or old business on the agenda, the meeting was brief. No audience members spoke. Mayor Stiltner provided his monthly update, praising the Oliver Springs Library’s ongoing work and noting that the Boys and Girls Club building is temporarily closed for necessary repairs. City Manager Corey Jenkins reported that the 2026 fiscal year budget is expected to be passed at the June meeting. Police Chief David Laxton highlighted the upcoming Cars and Craft Show, scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the former Tri-County Shopping Center parking lot.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned. Following the session, the council convened as the Beer Board. They addressed a violation by Fiesta Chara, a local restaurant cited for selling alcohol to a minor. After discussion, Councilmember Teresa Van Hook moved to fine the owner $1,500, seconded by Beer Board member Robert Miller, and the motion was approved unanimously. Mayor Stiltner and Councilmember Van Hook warned the owner that future violations would face stricter penalties.
