OLIVER SPRINGS TOWN COUNCIL AND WATER BOARD TO MEET TONIGHT; NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS TO TAKE OATH OF OFFICE IN HISTORIC FIRST

The Oliver Springs Water Board and Town Council will convene tonight, Thursday, Nov. 5, for back-to-back meetings featuring the swearing-in of elected leaders and key municipal business.
The proceedings begin with the Water Board meeting at 6:30 p.m., immediately followed by the regular Town Council meeting at 7:00 p.m.
Swearing-In & Historic Milestone
Tonight’s session highlights the official oath of office for both new and returning leaders:

Mayor: Jason Stiltner will be sworn in after running unopposed for another four-year term.

Ward 1: Tasha Brantley joins the Board of Aldermen after running unopposed.

Ward 2: Robert Lankford IV joins the board as the newly elected representative.

Ward 4: Incumbent Teresa Van Hook will be sworn in to begin her new term after winning re-election.
Following tonight’s ceremonies, Oliver Springs marks a major milestone: for the first time in town history, four women will serve on the Board of Aldermen simultaneously.
Council & Departmental Agendas
During the new business portion of the meeting, council members will address several municipal operational items:

Police Department: Discussion regarding the potential purchase of new radar equipment.

Purchasing Policy: Proposed amendment to the town’s existing purchasing guidelines.

Charter Workshop: Scheduling an official date for a Charter Update Workshop.

Departmental Reports: Updates from Police Chief David Laxton and Fire Chief Justin Bailey.
Board Financials & Old Business
No items are scheduled under old business for the Town Council, and the Water Board lists no formal old or new business items on its agenda. However, City Manager Corey Jenkins will present the Water Board’s financial reports to both the council and the public during the session.
