ROCKWOOD WOMAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING THIRTY-MINUTE STANDOFF ON SOUTH RIDGE AVENUE
By Dudley Evans –
A 58-year-old Rockwood woman was taken into custody Thursday morning following a brief standoff on South Ridge Avenue.
Rockwood Police Chief Kelly Pittman reported that officers arrived at the residence just before 10:00 a.m. following a domestic disturbance call involving a mother and daughter. The suspect, identified as Julie Gaye Underwood, initially refused to exit the home or comply with police commands.
After a 30-minute standoff and a telephone conversation with officers, Underwood exited the residence peacefully and was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported during the encounter.
Underwood was transported to the Roane County Jail and booked on charges of domestic assault, preventing the use of the 911 system, and resisting arrest. She remained in custody with no bond information available as of this afternoon.
