Tennessee Highway Patrol and Cumberland County Emergency personnel were called to the 328 mile marker of Interstate 40 early Friday evening for reports of a car veering off the interstate and striking a tree.

Witnesses at the scene indicate that the male driver of the single occupant vehicle was dead at the scene.  The car appeared to be registered in Monroe County.  1057news.com will have more details as they are released.
