ONE DEAD, THREE INJURED IN GRUNDY COUNTY SHOOTING
The TBI is assisting Grundy County authorities in looking into the circumstances of a shooting yesterday that left one dead and three injured at a home on State Route 56. Sheriff Clint Shrum said the deceased is 32-year-old Carolyn Nicole Powell. She was supposedly shot by 38-year-old John W. Smith of Jasper. He was shot in the head by Nicole Powell’s father and at last check is in critical condition. Smith shot another man in the home whose name has not been released pending notification of family. Nicole Powell’s father, Jerome Powell was also shot by Smith and is in the hospital. Six children were home at the time of the shooting.
