ONE HURT IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 IN PUTNAM COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol released a report today (Sunday, August 19, 2018) regarding a vehicle accident that took place on I-40 in Putnam County this past Wednesday. The report indicates a silver Ford F-250 driven by 45-year-old Alfredo Banos Nieves of Mexico was traveling west at the 298 mile marker (two miles west of Monterey) when he passed out behind the wheel. The truck hit a 2000 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by 53-year-old Norman Ibero of Texas. The Ford came to rest on its top in the travel lanes. Nieves was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained. He was later charged with DUI, failure to exercise due care, driving without a license and violation of the open container law. Ibero was not hurt in the crash.
