A head-on vehicle crash last night around 8:30 in Cumberland County resulted in a fatality and two injuries. Trooper Bobby Barker says a 2005 Ford Escape driven by 24-year-old Lindsay Surach of Crossville was traveling east on Highway 70 West in the area of Pleasant Hill when she crossed over the center line and hit an oncoming 1999 Ford Explorer operated by 34-year-old Starla Colwell of Sparta. Colwell was killed in the crash. Surach and a passenger in Cowells’ vehicle, 31-year-old Christopher Phillips of Sparta, were both injured and transported to the hospital. All three were restrained at the time of the accident. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says charges are pending as a result of the crash.
