ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE THROUGH TWO COUNTIES

A Rockwood man led authorities on a high-speed chase Monday morning. A black Honda CRV reportedly sped past Cumberland County deputies at the intersection of Swing Loop and Highway 70 East. The CRV was said to have passed two vehicles in the ditch, heading uphill and into a curve toward Roane County. The pursuit continued into Rockwood, with the driver reportedly passing three vehicles on double-yellow lines and meeting three vehicles in the oncoming lane. The pursuit continued onto Highway 27, Burton Mill Road, Able Valley Road and Waldo Road at speeds approaching 85 miles an hour until the driver reportedly crashed his vehicle into the woods at the intersection with Eagle Furnace Road and fled on foot. A Crossville Police Department K-9 was deployed to track the subject. Thirty-year-old Christopher Allen Taylor was arrested, charged with an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, along with evading arrest and reckless endangerment and initially placed under $40,000 bond.
