Law enforcement in Cumberland County, including the highway patrol, will take part in Operation Southern Shield from July 19-23, 2021. It is in response to an increase in vehicle fatalities because of speeding in the past few months.

Here is where the focus will be during the week:

Monday, July 19, 2021 – Highway 127 North and South in Tennessee from noon until 8 p.m.

Tuesday, July 20, 2021 – I-40 east and west from noon until 8 p.m.

Thursday, July 22, 2021 – Highway 68 and Highway 27 from noon until 8 p.m.

Friday, July 23, 2021 – Highway 70 from noon until 8 p.m.

Officers remind all motorists to drive safe, buckle up and obey the posted speed limits.
