PART OF RIGGS CHAPEL ROAD REOPENS IN ROANE COUNTY
After months of construction, Riggs Chapel Road has reopened for travel. A section of the road was taken out by mudslides from heavy rains earlier this year. Officials ask motorists to use caution when traveling the road. With the asphalt plant being closed for the season, 800 feet of Riggs Chapel Road is gravel and the speed limit is 15 m.p.h. The Roane County Highway Department will continue to monitor and maintain the road, but motorists should expect a closure in March or April to complete the paving.
