PASSENGER FLEES FROM WRECK AND LATER AIRLIFTED FROM CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Last Thursday a concerned mother called the Cumberland County Sherriff’s Office asking why there was no report from a vehicle accident involving her son, 62-year-old Clifton “Sonny” Hubbard. According to her, Clifton was in a wreck on Brewer Road, and “they brought him to the house and put him on the couch and left”. When speaking with her son, he informed her he had a broken neck, a broken right femur, 6 broken ribs, and a laceration on the back of his head and was still in the ICU.

Cumberland County investigators discovered the injuries described would be consistent with someone who was in the passenger seat of a truck that was involved in a wreck on Brewer Road on 2/21/23 where the parties had fled the scene before deputies arrived.

According to EMS records, Clifton Hubbard had been flown to Erlanger on 2/21/23 where the caller, Charlene Sadula, said that Clifton had been trying to build a fire and fell into the fire pit and struck his head. When EMS arrived on the scene, they transported him to Brown Elementary where he was airlifted for medical treatment.

Investigators were then able to track down the driver of the vehicle involved in the wreck. 31-year-old Travis Sadula originally told deputies that no one was hurt in the accident, but wouldn’t admit who was in the vehicle with him. Travis was arrested and later alleged that Clifton was in the truck and he took him to his “mom’s” house and he was fine.
